Coproduction Totem Contemporain / MNM

Jean-François Laporte introduces Montrealers to his latest invention: an audio-visual installation called Khrônos. Back from Taiwan, this fascinating construct allows you to go to the heart of a self-made automaton instrument, the Tu-Yo Afrika, thanks to a small video camera inserted in one of its cavities. Images captured by the camera are projected above the instrument, so you can see where the mysterious sounds coming out of it come from: a rubber ball bouncing on a brightly-coloured latex membrane stretched over the end of an aluminum tube. Intrigued? You have ten days to visit the MNM Lounge and discover the captivating sounds and visuals produced by this unusual assembly.
