To round out the festival, Walter Boudreau will take to the podium of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. This will be a unique opportunity to hear works of today performed by a renowned orchestra!

The “colossal boogie” that is John Adams’s Fearful Symmetries, with its pop and minimalist rock influences will be delivered to audiences along with a montage film centered on Buster Keaton entitled Buster. The young French film maker responsible for Buster intended it to be accompanied specifically by this work, the sonorities of which are in perfect sync with the universe of slapstick.

Walter Boudreau will also conduct Alighieri by the young Québécois composer Vincent-Olivier Gagnon, who was inspired by the verses of the Divine Comedy. Boudreau will also lead the orchestra in his own composition, La Vie d’un Héros, a posthumous tribute to Claude Vivier. The Quasar saxophone quartet and violinist Noémi Racine Gaudreault will join the orchestra for these two works for an explosive festival closer!
