• The Continuum Ensemble

J.S. Bach’s second Brandenburg Concerto as seen through Bob Marley’s War, Burning Spear’s Invasion, and Stars and Stripes Forever — this is how James Rolfe caught the attention of the jury for this year’s Jules Léger Prize for New Chamber Music. The Toronto-based Continuum ensemble of 6 musicians will present a concert that will be not only an occasion to hear Rolfe’s work (composed during the construction of the American invasion), but also to be present as the composer receives his prize.

Québécois composer, recipient of the 2002 Jules Léger Prize, and winner of the 2005 Prix Québec-Flandre, Yannick Plamondon will also figure on the programme with a performance of his Autoportrait sur Times Square, alongside works by Martin Arnold, Gerald Barry, and Salvatore Sciarrino. With over twenty years of presenting works by emerging Canadian and established artists, Continuum is certain to seduce with this “Grand(s) Prix” of concerts!
