Rarely heard in concert halls, three works by Stravinsky make up the first half of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra’s concert featuring Russia and the piano. Works for the latter instrument will be performed by master pianist Alexander Toradze — renown for having enriched the Russian piano repertoire through his unorthodox performances — and conductor Valery Gergiev, artistic director and general manager of the Marijnsky theatre in Saint Petersburg.
Who better to present a concert largely devoted to Stravinsky than these two Russian music specialists!
