Migratory birds? Or yet another case of East meets West? Whatever the case may be, the three soloists, ten wind players from the ECM, and eight percussionists from Evergreen will meet on a road less travelled by, and haunted by the shimmering timbres of the modern and traditional gamelans, as composers paraphrase Olivier Messiaen’s endearing bird theme, also on the programme.
A production of the ECM in collaboration with MNM
This concert is recorded by the radio of Radio-Canada and will air on Espace musique (100,7 FM in Montréal) at Mario Paquet’s program on Sundays at 10 pm. Parts of this concert may also be heard in more than 50 countries in the European Broadcasting Union.
