Greatly appreciated for its collaboration with the MNM Festival, the Art of Time ensemble (made up of members of the National Arts Centre Orchestra) will premiere Smaller Knifes, by the young and brilliant composer Geof Holbrook, under the direction of Jean-Philippe Tremblay. Pianist Brigitte Poulin will deliver all of the renowned refinement and sensibility of her style in two pieces (Dischordia and La cloche du temple) that have become a staple of the contemporary Québécois piano repertoire. Art of Time will close the concert with “the” fetish-quartet of twentieth-century chamber music, a work that embodies, according to the festival’s co-artistic director, Denys Bouliane, one of the best musical points of departure for both understanding and loving the music of our time.
