Quasar in concert
Having premiered his saxophone quartet Le chant de l’inaudible and participated in different projects including the premiere of Tribal, Quasar here follows with a large-scale project resulting from a privileged collaboration with composer Jean-Francois Laporte. This new work is the result of an intense cooperative effort between performers and composer. The piece evolved through a series of experimental and research-based workshops, all of which characterize the composer’s typical working style.
The piece, which will be premiered at the Eglise St-Jean-Baptiste in Montreal, has been created specifically for this space. In fact, the idea of spatialization lies at the heart of the project, along with a focus on timbre. Beginning with a single sound, an incredible world of sonorities is deployed, a fusion of saxophones and invented instruments.
This concert is recorded by the radio of Radio-Canada and will air on Espace musique (100,7 FM in Montréal) at Mario Paquet’s program on Sundays at 10 pm. Parts of this concert may also be heard in more than 50 countries in the European Broadcasting Union.”
